Premier League rivals Manchester United and Liverpool will lock horns with each other in the FA Cup this weekend. The quarter-final tie between Erik ten Hag’s side and Jurgen Klopp’s team will be held at Old Trafford and is scheduled to kick off at 3:30 pm UK time on Sunday.

Manchester United

Manchester United are arguably the biggest club in the world and have spent millions on players in recent years, but they are not as competitive as Liverpool, Manchester City or even Arsenal. The Red Devils have not won the Premier League since the Sir Alex Ferguson era and are not competent enough at the moment to even challenge for the league.

Erik ten Hag’s side are sixth in the Premier Leagu…

Ex-Man United captain Valencia returns to Ecuador

Former Manchester United captain Antonio Valencia has returned to Ecuador, joining LDU Quito.

The capital club announced the arrival of Valencia on Friday with the Ecuador international signing a two-year deal that includes the option for a third season.

Valencia won two Premier League titles, an FA Cup and a Europa League crown during his 10 years at Old Trafford after joining from Wigan Athletic in 2009.

But his contract was not renewed at the end of the 2018-19 season and Valencia has opted to return to his homeland for the latter years of his career.

Valencia, who started his career at Quito club El Nacional, made three appearances at the Copa America, including starting in a 4-0 loss to Uruguay, as Ecuador failed to qualify from the group stage.

Ferdinand and Rooney made incorrect Vidic prediction: No chance he will be at Man Utd for long

Rio Ferdinand concedes he was unimpressed with Nemanja Vidic after his arrival at Manchester United and predicted with Wayne Rooney that the defender would not last long at Old Trafford.

Vidic and Ferdinand eventually went on to form a superb centre-back partnership over eight-and-a-half seasons, which helped United to five Premier League crowns and Champions League glory in 2008.

But Rooney and his fellow England international had immediate doubts when Alex Ferguson signed Vidic from Spartak Moscow in January 2006.

Ferdinand told United s website: Never heard of him. I ll be totally honest, that was my reaction when I heard that we were signing Nemanja Vidic.

At the time we had Mikael Silvestre and Wes Brown as our other centre-halves. The manager wante…

New West Ham captain Kurt Zouma eager to repay support shown by David Moyes

Kurt Zouma is determined to repay the faith shown in him by West Ham manager David Moyes.

The 28-year-old defender has been confirmed as West Ham’s club captain in the wake of Declan Rice’s summer switch to Arsenal.

Moyes forked out £30million to sign Zouma from Chelsea in 2021 and stood by the Frenchman after a video emerged showing him kicking and slapping his pet cat.

Zouma was fined two weeks’ wages and sentenced to 180 hours of community service after that unsavoury incident.

Last season, Zouma was one of West Ham’s stand-out performers during their triumphant run in the Europa Conference League.

And his redemption continued by being handed the armband and playing a big part in West Ham’s fine start to the current campaign.

Milan confident of new Donnarumma deal

AC Milan are still confident that they will be able to reach an agreement with Gianluigi Donnarumma over a new one before the current one runs out in a few months, according to Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, despite there being no movement on that front as of yet.

Donnarumma is a product of Milan s youth setup, which he joined in 2013. He rose quickly through the ranks and earned a place in the first-team squad in 2015, despite being only 16 years old at the time. Now, at the age of 22, he s one of the world s most exciting young goalkeepers which, together with his contract situation, is attracting attention from top clubs around Europe. The likes of Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United and Chels…

Arteta warns Liverpool remain class act as Arsenal eye late-season surge

Mikel Arteta believes Liverpool remain one of the top two teams in England as he prepares Arsenal for a crunch clash on Saturday.

The drastic dip in results from Jurgen Klopp s team since the turn of the year has seen last season s champions fall out of the top four in the Premier League.

They and Arsenal still have time to jump up the table, with Liverpool sitting seventh and Arsenal ninth heading into the weekend.

Liverpool s five most recent Premier League wins have all come away from Anfield, and another at Emirates Stadium this weekend would be a huge lift for Klopp and his players.

Arteta senses Liverpool are performing better in many respects than their results indicate, and suggested they are only outranked by one team who would inevitably be M…

Juventus CEO confirms Dybala to depart at end of season

Juventus chief executive Maurizio Arrivabene has confirmed Paulo Dybala will leave the Bianconeri when his contract expires at the end of the season.

Dybala moved from Palermo to Juventus in June 2015 in a deal worth up to €40million and has since scored 80 goals in 202 Serie A appearances.

The forward was on target in Sunday s 2-0 win over Serie A strugglers Salernitana, with Alvaro Morata alone matching his league tally of eight for Juve so far this season.

Dybala now has 113 goals across all competitions for Juve, ranking him third all-time among the club’s non-Italian scorers, behind only David Trezeguet (171) and John Hansen (124).

However, head coach Massimiliano Allegri suggested he did not know what the future held for the Argentina inter…

Pavard boost for Bayern Munich as defender resumes training

Benjamin Pavard resumed light training on Monday in a boost for Bayern Munich ahead of their Champions League semi-final against Lyon.

Pavard only travelled to Portugal to link up with the squad last Thursday after having stayed in Munich to receive treatment.

Bayern said in a statement that he was able to complete part of team training at the Cidade do Futebol, the home of the Portugal national team.
