Five key stars in England’s Euro 2020 push

In the wake of England s big win over Germany in the Round of 16, many fans are of the belief that football could indeed be coming home after all. Whether or not that s a realistic line of thinking is something we ll have to wait and see but with Ukraine and Czech Republic/Denmark ahead, you just never know what could happen.

Today, we re going to run through a few players who we believe could serve as the major difference-makers in the race to become European champions.

Jordan Pickford

At the 2018 World Cup, Jordan Pickford announced himself to the international stage as a legitimately top goalkeeper and three years later, he s doing the same thing. The Everton stopper has been absolutely integral in the rise of this England team in the Euros and if they re going to go all the way, he is going to be one of the guiding lights.

Harry Kane

Harry Kane has taken a while to really get going in this tournament but that doesn t mean it s all going to be doom and gloom. He managed to get on the scoresheet against the Germans which should, hypothetically, be enough to warrant him starting in the quarters, and from there, we re hoping for a reverse impact from what he did at the World Cup.

Raheem Sterling

Four games, three goals very few would ve expected that from Raheem Sterling when he first popped up in the squad for Euro 2020, and yet here we are. He s been in the right place at the right time on three separate occasions and even though he hasn t been perfect, he s clearly enjoying a strong run of form in this current system and that s what matters.

Harry Maguire

Harry Maguire was sorely missed in the first few games but now, he s really starting to come into his own in this team. He can be the leader from the back that ensures this continued defensive stability and even though he still has his haters, he has formed a really phenomenal partnership alongside John Stones and that s something that is undeniable.

Jack Grealish

We ve all been crying out to see him on a more frequent basis in this tournament and whenever he gets onto the pitch, he proves why. Grealish already has two assists to his name and it s easy to see why he s such a talisman for Aston Villa. He carries the ball well, he always looks strong in possession and he s as creative as they come.
