This Saturday we have a preseason clash between the Buffalo Bills and the Pittsburgh Steelers at Acrisure Stadium.
Both head coaches will be looking to bounce back from defeat last week, and this should be an interesting matchup. Don’t miss our Bills vs. Steelers predictions and NFL picks for August 17.
Bills vs Steelers prediction

My analysis
It’s likely to be a tale of the quarterbacks here and both the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Buffalo Bills will be looking for improvement having been beaten convincingly last time out. Neither Sean McDermott or Mike Tomlin take preseason lightly and have solid winning records upwards of 60% at this time of year.

Ralph Hasenhuttl was left counting the cost of Southampton’s dramatic extra-time FA Cup win over Coventry. His side needed a fine Stuart Armstrong strike and a 112th-minute goal from Kyle Walker-Peters to seal a 2-1 victory, but the hosts lost defender Lyanco to a hamstring injury while striker Armando Broja had to be carried off.
“It’s not good,” was Hasenhuttl’s verdict on the pair. “Lyanco’s injury is very serious. Broja’s is the top of the knee and we’ll have to look at how serious it is. In an FA Cup game you cannot really control what happens. They are always so tight and so tough, especially against a team as organised as Coventry.”

Most people have probably not heard of John Docker given he made a handful of appearances, as a teenager, for Torquay at the start of their Division Three campaign in 1967. However, the diminutive winger will always have a special place in the history of football transfers.
Temporary deals between English clubs had been outlawed until the introduction of a loans system meant Docker became the first to take advantage when he moved to the Devon club from Coventry. The 19-year-old got off to a fine start, scoring twice in a 3-0 victory against local rivals Exeter and he made another three appearances before being sent back to Coventry.

There are many types of footballer – the strong, the tactically aware, the technical. But every so often – once in a generation, occasionally more if you are lucky – there are those that come along who are a cut above. They make their craft look effortless, gliding and dancing across the grass. They are the artists of the sport who paint different pictures on the pitch and exist at least three paces ahead of everyone else around them, directing play like a conductor does an orchestra.
Germany’s Dzsenifer Marozsán belongs to this unique set of players. As she entered the field on Tuesday for the 112th and final time in a Germany shirt, there was a real sense we were saying goodbye to one of her country’s best ever. She bowed to the…
The Commissioner of Major League Soccer, Don Garber, has joined voices calling for greater accountability within football, saying Fifa must “think about our sport strategically” as the discord over an expanding football calendar continued.
Garber said he was “excited” at the prospect of Fifa’s new Club World Cup competition, which is due to take place in the US next summer, but at the same time sympathised with those speaking out against fixture overload, with the players’ union Fifpro this week launching a legal challenge against the governing body over a lack of consultation on its expansion plans.
“The world is shrinking, and with that sports are evolving,” said Garber, speaking at the London-held…
If multiple NFL franchises hadn’t combusted three weeks into the NFL season, more people would be talking about the Green Bay Packers, who appear to have another franchise quarterback. Jordan Love’s numbers aren’t eye-popping, yet he has a 7-1 touchdown to interception ratio and already plays with the poise of a vet. There are very few QBs who get shut out for three quarters and are still able to solve a defense, especially one as good as the group in New Orleans. I walked by a trio of Packers fans after the win over the Saints on Sunday, and they were glowing to such a degree you’d think the group had just finished a three-hour orgy. With all the piles of flesh and bodily fluids flying, a football game is comparable, but rarely do fans emit that kind of aura. New franchise QB…
Some people are fans of the Tennessee Titans. But many, many more people are NOT fans of the Tennessee Titans. This 2017 Deadspin NFL team preview is for those in the latter group. Read all the previews so far here. Your team: Tennessee Titans. Your 2011 record: 9-7. Your coach: Mike Munchak! Great guy! Makes you wear sports coats. Your quarterback: Jake Locker! If you ask the bean-counters, this was a disappointing summer: Almost every major sequel underperformed ( Transformers: Age of Extinction, The Expendables 3, and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 were all the lowest-grossing entries in their respective series), and there were some truly ugly flops, most notably for Seth MacFarlane and Adam Sandler. But all told, as far as summers go, this was a good one: Seven of the season's top 10 grossing films were substantial critical hits, and the biggest film of all (and maybe the biggest of the whole year) was Guardians of the Galaxy, a weird little retro-goof that showed how desperate audiences are for something even a little different. We're ready for fall—and the Toronto Film Festival—the unofficial kickoff of Prestige Season—…
